Rustam Minnikhanov meets Minister of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China Miao Wei

On September 14, at Tatarstan President’s residence in the Kazan Kremlin, President of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Minister of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China Miao Wei, who arrived in Kazan to take part in the second meeting of the Russian-Chinese subcommittee on cooperation in the field of industry to be held in the Kazan City Hall today.

Welcoming the Minister, Minnikhanov noted that Russia and China have established all-round strategic cooperation through continuous political dialogue at the highest level and common positions on topical international and regional issues.

China is Russia's largest trading partner, Tatarstan President said. In 2016, mutual trade turnover reached 66 billion US dollars, and in the first half of this year it went up by 35 per cent as compared to the same period last year.

He continued that great importance is attached to the development of ties between Russian regions and Chinese provinces. "We appreciate the current high level of relations with China and pay special attention to expanding our comprehensive contacts aimed at strengthening friendship and interaction between Russia and China," Minnikhanov said. “Tatarstan is actively cooperating with Chinese partners. Last year, the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Chine grew 1.4 times and totaled 372 million US dollars. In the first half of 2017, our trade boosted 1.75 times," he added.

Minnikhanov noted good prospects for the development of cooperation between Tatarstan and China in the field of petrochemistry, engineering, information technology, agriculture, construction, health-care, science, education, tourism, etc.

Thanking Minnikhanov for the reception, Miao Wei noted the importance of cooperation between Tatarstan and China for the development of bilateral Russian-Chinese relations.
