Prime Minister of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin: I hope that a professional rugby club will appear in Kazan next year

On September 1, speaking at a press conference, Tatarstan Prime Minister, Chairman of the regional Rugby Association Aleksey Pesoshin told reporters that he hopes that a professional rugby club, which will play in the Russian Championship, will appear in Kazan next year. 

Today Kazan is hosting the stage of the European Rugby-7 Women’s Championship.

Answering questions from journalists, Pesoshin said: "We had professional clubs both 50 years ago, when rugby first started, and in 2012-2013. Now we have a sponsor who expressed his will to support this sport in Tatarstan. I hope that we will have a professional team next year. "

In his turn, Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Rugby Federation of Russia Igor Artemyev also noted that the organization is interested in establishing a professional rugby club in Kazan.
