Shamil Gafarov lays flowers at the burial place of the first Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Tatar ASSR

On June 23, in Saratov, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan - Chief of Staff of Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers Shamil Gafarov laid flowers at the burial place of the first Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of Tatar ASSR Sahibgarey Said-Galiev.

The event was held at the memorial to the victims of mass political repression at the Resurrection Cemetery (Saratov).

In his speech, Gafarov noted that a year and a half ago, Tatarstan President and Prime Minister of Tatarstan adopted a project to bring all the burial places of the former leaders of the Council of People's Commissars of the Tatar ASSR and the chairmen of the Council of Ministers of the Tatar ASSR in order. There are a total of 15 such leaders in the history of the republic.

“According to this decision, we repaired and restored the graves and memorials associated with their names. The geography of this large-scale project is wide from Karelia to Kazakhstan, ” Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan said.

One of these graves is located in Saratov, where the first Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Tatar ASSR, Sahibgarey Said-Galiev, who was repressed and sentenced to death on September 12, 1938, is buried. In 1955, Sahibgarey was rehabilitated posthumously.

Speaking about the importance of such events in the Year of the 100th anniversary of the Tatar ASSR Gafarov noted the huge role of the leaders of the Council of People's Commissars of the Tatar ASSR in the formation and development of the republic. On behalf of Tatarstan President,  he expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Saratov region for active cooperation and assistance in organizing the event.
