The number of environmental violations decreases to 4,000 in a year in Tatarstan

On October 22, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Aleksandr Shadrikov said that in 2020, inspectors of the Ministry suppressed over 4,000 violations, which is almost 800 less than in the same period last year.

“Persistent violators of environmental legislation were imposed administrative fines for the sum of over 54 million roubles. The courts of the republic have suspended the activities of four enterprises operating in violation of environmental legislation,” the Minister reported.

Over 1,600 violations of environmental legislation in waste management were revealed, which is 700 less than in the same period last year. As many as 1287 landfills were registered on the eco-map of the republic.

Violations of water use regulations, parking and the movement of vehicles in unauthorized areas, the concealment and distortion of environmental information on water use and other violations were revealed.

Ecologists are working to determine the boundaries of water bodies in the republic, to prevent violations of water legislation. To date, activities have been carried out at 137 water bodies, 28 of which have the status of specially protected natural areas.
