On July 5, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, accompanied by Chief of Staff of Tatarstan President’s Administration Asgat Safarov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, and other officials visited new residence of the Muslim Spiritual Administration of the republic (Galeev House, G.Tukai st.,38).
Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated workers of the Muslim Spiritual Administration on moving to the new building and wished fruitful work.
Built in the second half of the 19th century, Galeev House was owned by Tatar merchants, and an outstanding scientist and educator Galimzyan Galeev spent his childhood there. The house and Galeev Mosque located next door represent one complex. By the decision of Tatarstan President, major reconstruction works started there in 2014. The reconstructed mosque opened last December during Mawlid an-Nabi.
