Rustam Minnikhanov: "We are willing to share our best practices with Tambov region and learn from them”

23 August 2016, Tuesday

On August 23, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Chief of Tambov Region administration Alexander Nikitin.

The Tambov delegation had arrived in Tatarstan the day before. By the moment of arrival at the president’s residence, the guests had been shown the Kazan Federal University’s Fundamental Medicine Institute, Medical Science Centre and IT Park.

“We have learned the innovative projects in healthcare and medicine in general. They are useful and in-demand not just here but in the country. They are in demand internationally as well. There is support of these endeavours here, as there is feedback. There is no way you can stay indifferent when visiting the IT Park. It is probably the best technopark in the country! And the people working there are the main achievement and main factor for success. We have learned a lot today in terms of managing this activity,” Alexander Nikitin shared his impressions.

The Tambov Region has quite a substantial experience in building platforms like this. A short while ago, it built two industrial parks. The main task for today is to make the base a place attractive for enthusiastic people willing to work, Nikitin went on to say.

“Another thing of interest to us is innovations in providing conditions to attract investments. I am talking about economic zones and industrial parks. We deem it important not just to build them on paper but ensure competive business environment for the work of residents of innovative territories. All this is really interesting to us, and we expect that the openness Rustam Nurgalievich’s team demonstrates will allow us to learn from this expertise and implement all the good things you have in our Tambov region,” he continued.

Tatarstan looks forward to a productive dialogue as well. The trade turnover between the regions does not exceed 1.7 billion roubles. “It is too little. Both Tambov Region and Tatarstan have great potential. I am sure our products – in petrochemistry, mechanical engineering – need more extensive representation. Our counterparts supply us with foods and agricultural products that are in great demand. We are talking of new areas for development. The fruit and berry business in Tambov Region is very strong, we are lagging behind it. We will work in this direction,” Minnikhanov said.

The visitors showed an interest in Tatarstan e-government and e-Public Control systems. They plan to learn the well-honed structure of supporting small economic zones, business and industrial sites.

“My colleague has a young team. I know he plans many changes,” Tatarstan President said, adding that Tatarstan is willing to learn the Tambov governance system as well. A delegation representing Tatarstan will visit the Tambov Region soon.
