Rustam Minnikhanov welcomes participants of the 7th Congress of Muslims of Tatarstan

On April 17, at Korston Entertainment Complex, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed participants of the 7th Congress of Muslims of Tatarstan.

The Congress was attended by over 1200 imams from all over the republic, heads of ministries and departments, heads of municipalities.

Minnikhanov noted that for the last four years the republic has seen a lot of changes. But the main result of work is that the region has managed to preserve interethnic and interfaith peace and harmony - a pledge of further positive development. "Members of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Tatarstan have made a great contribution to this matter," Minnikhanov stressed.

Tatarstan President stated that today all the necessary conditions for the preservation of religion, the native language and traditions have been created in the republic. He said that much attention is paid to the revival of religious sites.

The training of imams is of special importance under modern conditions, Minnikhanov noted. In order to solve this global task, the construction of the Bolgar Islamic Academy is currently underway in Spassky region of the republic. "This project is nationwide. The Academy will become a religious educational and spiritual centre, supporting the true values ​​of Islam," Minnikhanov said.

Minnikhanov appreciated the activities of Kamil Khazrat Samigullin and the Muftiate in general. "I hope that we will continue to work fruitfully together for the benefit of citizens of our republic, peace and prosperity in Tatarstan," Tatarstan President added.
