Rustam Minnikhanov: Economic situation is stabilizing in Tatarstan

On May 29, problems and prospects of the main industries of Tatarstan were discussed at the session of the Committee of the State Duma for economic policy, industry, innovative development and entrepreneurship at Tatarstan Government House.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the republic Albert Karimov,  Chairman of the Committee of the Russian State Duma for economic policy, industry, innovative development and entrepreneurship Sergey Zhigarev, and members of the State Duma took part in the event.

Welcoming participants of the event, Rustam Minnikhanov thanked for holding the session in Tatarstan and the opportunity to discuss issues of the development of the main regional economic sectors.

He said that Tatarstan is one of the leading industrially developed regions in Russia and is ranked fifth by the volume of shipped products, and third by the amount of investments and volume of agricultural products. Oil and gas industry, agriculture and automotive industry are priority sectors defined by the Strategy-2030.

Rustam Minnikhanov informed of major projects being implemented in the republic, - the opening of Ammonia complex and construction of ethylene complex at Nizhnekamskneftekhim pharmaceutical company.

Also, agriculture is one of the main industries in the republic. Tatarstan ranks first by milk production, second by potato harvest, and forth by meat production. Small farming is actively supported in the republic.

The programmes on technology upgrade of agro-industrial complex are implemented in Tatarstan.

Rustam Minnikhanov also said that KAMAZ and Ford Sollers are leading companies in automotive industry.

According to the president, much attention is paid to the development of technoparks, industrial parks, and other industrial sites.
