Rustam Minnikhanov hands in awards to honored forestry workers of Tatarstan

On September 21, at the Kazan National Cultural Centre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a solemn event to award forestry workers of the republic, timed to their professional holiday.

“The Day of Forestry Workers has been a kind of the second Sabantuy for many years. Unfortunately, because of my work schedule I have not been able to attend this event recently. However, this holiday has been connected with my family throughout my life. I am a son of a forester and this event is very important to me,” Tatarstan President said.

Minnikhanov stressed that forests are one of the main assets of the republic, covering 17 per cent of the total land area.

“People coming to the republic talk about beauty and natural wealth of our region. It is worth mentioning that due to successful work of our foresters there have been no forest fires in Tatarstan,” he added.  

Then, Minnikhanov handed in state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan to the best forestry workers.
