Norwegian company Nores Watertech and technopark Idea sign agreement on the project of construction of salmon production plant in Tatarstan

On October 9, Norwegian company Nores Watertech and technopark Idea signed the pre-investment agreement on the project of construction of salmon production plant with the capacity of 3,000 tonnes per year in Tatarstan.  

The document was signed by Acting Director General of technopark Idea Oleg Ibragimov and a representative of the Norwegian company Trond Veger at Korston hotel during the 47th session of the Joint Norwegian–Russian Fisheries Commission.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery Vasily Sokolov, Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov took part in the event.

“On behalf of Nores Watertech we want to thank Federal Agency for Fishery and Naberezhnye Chelny for their help with making this decision. We are investing in implementation of this project in this region with pleasure. We have been discussing this issue for three-four months. There are a lot of areas of potential cooperation,” Trond Veger said.

Other Norwegian companies will take part in the project in autumn 2018. “We will cooperate with different research institutes of Norway and Tatarstan. We have talked to representatives of academic environment a lot here; scientists are interested in this project.”

“A working group on activization of relations in the sphere of technologies and aqua culture was created many years ago. It had no effect for many years, but this session and signing of the agreement open new opportunities for cooperation. I want to thank Rustam Minnikhanov and his team, who managed to involve a Norwegian company, show opportunities of the republic and make an important step,” Vasily Sokolov said. 

According to Oleg Ibragimov, the amount of financing of the first construction stage will make 26.9 mln Euro.

The project is to be implemented at Priority Social and Economic Development Area Naberezhnye Chelny.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that as one of rapidly developing Russian regions Tatarstan takes the expansion of cooperation with Norway with great interest.
