Rustam Nigmatullin pays a working visit to Nurlat region of the republic

On February 25, Acting Prime Minister Rustam Nigmatullin paid a working visit to Nurlat region of the republic to take part in a meeting of the local Council on results of the socio-economic development of the municipality in 2018 and tasks for 2019.

Making a keynote report at the meeting, Head of the region Almaz Akhmetshin noted that during the year the regional officials focused their efforts on strengthening the economy and improving the quality of life of people. Despite continuing difficult economic situation, the positive dynamics of development have been maintained.

In 2018, the gross territorial product (GTP) amounted to more than 49.3 billion roubles, with an increase of 3.5 per cent compared to 2017. Oil enterprises made the largest contribution to the formation of the GTP, which is about 63 per cent. Industrial companies and agricultural enterprises also play an important role in the economy of the region.

According to Akhmetshin, attracting investment to the region remains a primary task, which is an impetus to the creation of new jobs and the retention of human resources of the region.

Speaking at the meeting,  Nigmatullin noted that the region ranks ninth in the socio-economic development rating of municipalities.

He also stressed that issues of supporting the village and the development of the agro-industrial complex are always the focus of attention of the republic’s leadership. “The potential of the region allows us to achieve better results,” Nigmatullin said. “You need to intensify efforts in all areas. ”

At the end of the meeting, Nigmatullin handed in state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan to the most distinguished residents of the region.
