Rustam Minnikhanov visits construction site of Ammoni plant

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov acquainted with course of construction of new plant “Ammoni” in Mendeleevsk region (Tatarstan).

Head of Tatarstan also held a meeting on issues of realizing such an ambitious investment project.

The project aimed at construction of the complex for producing ammonia, methanol, granulated carbamide, and ammonia nitrate is being implemented on the territory of OAO “Ammoni” production complex.

The complex will include combined unit of ammonia and methanol with a capacity of 715.5.thousand tons of ammonia per year, or 455 thousand tons of ammonia and 238 thousand tons of methanol, and the unit of granulated carbamide with a capacity of 715.5.thousand tons per year.

The project customer is OAO “Ammoni”, general foreign contractor – consortium of Japanese Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Sojitz Corporation and China National Chemical Engineering Corporation (CNCEC).

The foundation stone of new plant was laid on October, 12, 2011. Construction works will have been finished by the end of 2014, main production activity is to be started in the first quarter of 2015, full-capacity work – in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Officials of OAO “Ammoni” told the Tatarstan President that 460 people are currently involved in construction. Mainly there are workers from China and Japan.

For three months the contractor has drawn 680 mln roubles.

The RT President noted high level of discipline and organization of work at the construction site. He advised chiefs of the largest Tatarstan enterprises to take into account positive experience of Chinese companies.

Head of republic also visited Sojitz and CNCEC offices and a residential area where he inspected living conditions offered to workers.

At the meeting on issues of the project realization Director General of OAO “Gasprom Mezhregiongas Kazan” Rinat Khanbikov informed that the contract with consortium of companies has come to a full force. The contract cost makes 1.6 bln dollars without VAT.
