Under the project on creating the Innopolis data centre, the IT-city planted 466 trees

27 October 2022, Thursday

On October 27, residents of the city of Innopolis, as well as employees of Atomdata-Innopolis, a subsidiary of the Rosenergoatom concern (part of the electric power division of the Rosatom State Corporation), planted 63 coniferous trees and 50 shrubs. The total area planted was 3,700 square meters.

The “Plant a Tree” campaign is held under the compensatory greening project for the territory where a large production facility is being built - a data processing and storage centre, which is part of the geo-distributed network of Rosatom data centres. The new data centre will be designed for 2 thousand racks, half of which will be launched next year. The total capacity of the data center will be 16 MW. In total, 466 trees have already been planted with the company.

Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roman Shaykhutdinov, Director General of the Innopolis Special Economic Zone Renat Khalimov, Mayor of the city Ruslan Shagaleev and Director General of Atomdata-Innopolis Salavat Rakhmatullin took part in the tree planting campaign.

Shaykhutdinov emphasized that the Mayor's office of a young and comfortable IT city is carrying out a systematic work on greening and improving the urban environment to make Innopolis even more comfortable - about 700 trees are planted here a year. “It's great that this campaign was supported by one of the residents of the Innopolis SEZ, which is building the largest data center in the Volga Federal District in the IT city. Rosatom State Corporation, which is developing a network of data processing centers throughout the country, is implementing an important strategy aimed at developing digital assets, ensuring the fault-tolerance of operating information systems and, most importantly, creating a huge market for domestic electronics. A plant for the production of motherboards is being launched at the second site of the Innopolis SEZ in the Laishevo region, the server capacities of which will be provided by the new data center. Tatarstan is already a traffic exchange point, and I hope that over time several more such necessary facilities will be built in the republic,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

According to the mayor of Innopolis Ruslan Shagaleev, in Innopolis, in parallel with the active construction, there is a constant transformation and improvement of the territory. There are more and more trees in the city that protect the citizens from the wind and create comfort. «Ecological campaigns are held regularly in the city, cleaning campaigns and tree planting together with residents are our traditions», the mayor said.
