Tatarstan President calls for using “Public control” system and social networks more actively in combating corruption in public sector

More than 200 facts of corruption in public sectors such as health care, education and social services have been revealed in the Republic of Tatarstan for the last two years and a half. All revealed facts were discussed at a session of Presidential Anti-Corruption Council at the Kazan Kremlin today. The session of held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.

Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, and Chairman of State Council Farid Mukhametshin took part in the event.
Opening the session, Rustam Minnikhanov said that the main thing in restraining corruption in public sectors is publicity. In spite of measures taken to prevent corruption in public sectors, we are still receiving complaints from citizens, he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov cite the data of the survey conducted by the foundation “Public opinion” in 2013 by the order of Russian Ministry of Economic Development. The annual amount of corruption in public sectors in Russia made 227 billion roubles.

Modern technologies are actively introduced in Tatarstan to provide transparency of activity of authorities and make obtainment of state services easier. Thus, creation of the portal of state and municipal services (https://uslugi.tatar.ru) and the portal “Public control had a great impact on minimization of corruption in public sectors.

Every 5th citizen in the republic experiences facts of corruption in public sectors. The President believes that public organisations should play more important role in prevention of corruption in public sectors.

Deputy Prosecutor of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Nikolaev, who took part in the session, noted in his report that today corruption in public sectors has become wide-ranging.

Deputy Minister of the Interior, police chief officer Rafail Gilmanov, in his turn, told about the structure of revealed corruption crimes.

Head of anti-corruption projects of regional public organization “Academy of creative youth of the Republic of Tatarstan” Andrey Petukhov told about anti-corruption campaigns conducted in the republic.

Summing up, Tatarstan President called government officials for using “Public control” system and social networks more actively in combating corruption in public sector.
