On March 24, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov arrived on a working visit in Yekaterinburg to attend a meeting on compliance with the legislation regulating timely payments of obligations under executed state and municipal contracts by customers in the Far Eastern, Volga, Siberian and Ural federal districts held by Russia's Prosecutor General Yury Chaika.

Before the event, Minnikhanov had visited the Boris Yeltsin's Museum, dedicated to the contemporary political history of Russia and laid flowers at the monument to the first President of the Russian Federation.

Opening the meeting, Chaika noted that as of March 1, 2017, the total amount of debt under state and municipal contracts in the regions concerned amounts to 14.3 billion roubles. Among violations revealed, there are such cases as the conclusion of contracts without a budget limit, the inclusion of unlawful conditions into them, as well as corrupt practices and the irresponsibility of officials.

Making a keynote report at the meeting, First Deputy Prosecutor General Alexander Buksman said that Russia's prosecution agencies are focusing their efforts to restrain violations of the rights of entrepreneurs concerning late payment of obligations under state and municipal contracts by customers.
