Alexey Pesoshin: The Republic of Cuba is one of the most important foreign economic partners of Tatarstan

On May 23, at his meeting with Cuban Ambassador to Russia Emilio Lozada García in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Alexey Pesoshin said that the Republic of Cuba is one of the most importance foreign economic partners of Tatarstan.

He thanked the Ambassador for his interest in Tatarstan and the desire to develop trade, economic and investment cooperation.

Pesoshin said that Tatarstan is interested in expanding the range and volume of trade with Cuba.

Considerable progress was achieved in this work in 2016, when foreign trade turnover between the two republics made 100.6 million US dollars. As compared to 2015, this figure was 11.3 million US dollars.

Pesoshin stressed that Cuba is one of the most stable and promising markets for the Kazan Helicopter Plant and KAMAZ Automaker (Naberezhney Chelny).

Among other promising areas of cooperation, Prime Minister of Tatarstan called cooperation in the field of health, sports and tourism.

In his turn García noted that the relations between Tatarstan and Cuba are developing fruitfully. He reminded that in 1996, when Cuba had a tough time, the Republic of Tatarstan opened its trade and economic representative office on the island of Liberty. "We will never forget this. This event has become one of the most important in the history of our relations,” the Ambassador said.

Aide to Prime Minister of Tatarstan Nazil Nasibullin, Minister of Health of the republic Adel Vafin, Director General of Export Corporation of the Republic of Tatarstan Airat Nazmiev and other officials took part in the meeting.
